FROMM'S LIGHTING DESIGN TEAM REDESIGNS LAKE BRYN MAWR CAMP'S PATHWAY LIGHTING

Lake Bryn Mawr Camp is an 80-acre campground located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, that has been operating since 1921. In the summer, it hosts a sleepaway camp for girls and stays busy in the off-season by hosting wedding receptions.

Problem

Camp management decided it wanted to upgrade the lighting on the property to keep campers safe during nighttime activities and to provide more aesthetically pleasing lighting for wedding receptions held during the off-season. The first part of the project involved replacing the pole lighting that lined pathways around the camp. The primary challenge was determining how to space the pole lights so that the pathways would be uniformly lit without projecting light into cabin windows.

Solution

Not able to find an easy answer, Lake Bryn Mawr Camp reached out to Fromm and was put in touch with the lighting and design team. A Fromm lighting specialist visited the camp and walked the pathways to assess the camp’s lighting needs. Working with the information that was gathered during the site visit, including an aerial photo, the Fromm lighting team designed a comprehensive plan. The design incorporated new direct burial fluted aluminum pole lights with decorative bases and post tops, and new area lights that use energy-efficient and aesthetically pleasing LED lamps.

Result

After installing the new light poles, Lake Bryn Mawr Camp’s pathways are safely and uniformly lit, without having the issue of light entering the cabins at night and disrupting campers’ sleep. The new lights’ decorative design is more stylish, making the camp more appealing to prospective customers interested in booking the camp for wedding receptions and other events. Lake Bryn Mawr Camp was pleased with the results and quickly began making plans with Fromm’s team to roll out the next project phase in its lighting renovation.
