FROMM GUIDES CEMENT PLANT TO BIG UTILITY REBATES ON ITS LED UPGRADE

LafargeHolcim (“Lafarge”) is a leading manufacturer of cement in the United States. The Lafarge plant in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, produces cement used in construction projects in the eastern Pennsylvania region and is one of the oldest operating cement plants in the country.

Problem

Lafarge’s storeroom lighting was in need of an upgrade. Poor lighting made it difficult for employees to find and identify parts and also created a safety hazard. In addition, the lighting was not energy efficient. It took so long to get the lights to full brightness, Lafarge employees would leave them on all the time instead of only turning them on when needed. This was something Lafarge was interested in changing.  

Solution

Lafarge contacted Fromm and was directed to the lighting design team. A Fromm lighting specialist visited Lafarge’s facility to see the storeroom and discuss lighting solutions. After the visit, Fromm developed a report for Lafarge, which provided lighting upgrade recommendations, estimated utility bill savings, and identified potential utility rebates. Based on Fromm’s recommendations, Lafarge installed 28 4k high bay LED lamps, including 14 industrial sealed high bays, which provide ample, energy-efficient lighting. The new LED lamps qualified Lafarge for utility rebates, which Fromm helped identify and apply for.

Result

Lafarge’s storeroom is now well-lit, allowing associates to find the parts they need quickly and safely, increasing the company’s efficiency and quality, all while decreasing utility costs. With Fromm’s help, Lafarge was able to get back 30% of its investment through utility rebates.
